Of Orcs And Men

Release Date: 2012
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genres: RPG, Action, Fantasy, Story-Rich, Third-Person, Stealth, Adventure, Turn-Based, Orcs, Goblins
More about the game: Read More

This game is a dynamic RPG where the action centers around two main characters: an orc named Arkail and a goblin named Styx. The Human Empire, as they say, spares no one. So, war has already swept through the lands of orcs and goblins, eventually enslaving them all. Not the best outcome for the greenskins, if you ask me.

On top of that, the player has to accomplish an almost impossible mission – take out the Emperor himself! That’s right, folks. We play as two warriors who are masters of their skills: one a brutal brawler, the other a silent assassin. The gameplay in this game is an absolute blast – you need to combine attacks, use the environment, and stealth. It’s a merciless slaughter and just frantic action. You feel like every hit isn’t just a button press, but a force that tears through your attackers.

The graphics aren’t cutting-edge new-gen, but they still look great and atmospheric. An absolutely captivating game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2014
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genres: Open World, Action, Fantasy, Adventure, Third-Person, Stealth, RPG, Assassins, Slasher, Parkour, Atmospheric, Story-Rich, Sandbox, Orcs, Lord of the Rings, Medieval
More about the game: Read More

This game is a brutal open-world slasher, with the action unfolding in the world of Mordor… It all kicks off around a ranger named Talion, who died at the hands of Sauron and was brought back to life by the ghost of the Elven lord Celebrimbor. Now, as they say, they’re set to wreak havoc together and mercilessly avenge themselves on the orcs for all their mess.

The gameplay in this installment is just a dream! We’ll be tearing through hordes of enemies, aided by a whole arsenal of attacks, abilities, and combos. On top of that, the game has its own original mechanic – the “Nemesis System.” It’s simple but brilliant: every grunt who manages to kill you will gain experience and climb the ranks, eventually becoming a true boss, eager to get revenge for past defeats.

There’s also a huge, grim open world here, packed with all sorts of secrets and side quests. While the story isn’t exactly groundbreaking, it pulls you in and will be interesting for lore lovers. Lord of the Rings fans will dig it.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Genres: Open World, Action, RPG, Fantasy, Adventure, Third-Person, Stealth, Story-Rich, Medieval, Atmospheric, Orcs, Lord of the Rings
More about the game: Read More

Next up on our list is Middle-earth: Shadow of War. This is a follow-up to the 2014 game, where the story continues the saga of Ranger Talion and the wraith Celebrimbor. The core idea here is an all-out war against Sauron, which has now reached a whole new level. We’re not just wandering around Mordor anymore; we’re capturing fortresses and building our own orc army.

By the way, the gameplay hasn’t changed. Just like in the first game, we’re in for some brutal orc slaughter, using sword, bow, and magic. We act as both a warlord and a killing machine. Plus, the game has multiplayer where you can battle other players’ fortresses.

On top of all that, this installment has even more quests, more bosses, and even more epic battles. The aggressive atmosphere is still very much alive. The graphics are a bit dated by modern standards, sure, but they still look decent and beautiful. So, my friends, fans of the Lord of the Rings universe are definitely going to like this one.

Here we have a furious and bloody third-person shooter with action elements, set in the “Warhammer 40,000” universe. We play as Captain Titus, commander of the Ultramarines Chapter. We’ll have to fight millions of orc hordes, basically, saving an entire forge world from the green tide.

Also, the game offers absolutely insane gameplay. Massive crowds of attackers, brutal melee combat, and a powerful arsenal of ranged weapons. The gameplay doesn’t mess around. It’s just pure carnage, pure hardcore. On top of that, there’s a multiplayer mode where you can test your skills against other players.

At first, the game might seem like just a shooter where you only need to shoot, but it’ll grow on you over time, appealing to both seasoned gamers and newcomers. This game is seriously addictive.

The gameplay in this game is super dynamic, sometimes escalating into pure madness when you have to fight huge bosses and dozens of regular orcs. Afterward, you’re in for a ton of fun. Great graphics.

Speaking of friends, the game has multiplayer, where you can play the campaign together, which, in turn, will simplify the task. In this game, you’ll have to, as they say, really put in the effort. Besides constantly using traps, we’ll have to constantly fight bosses, as well as regular mobs, which makes this game super interesting…

The game is seriously addictive, and the graphics, by the way, are excellent, even if they’re in a cartoon style. It’s exactly what you need. Defend your portals, my friends!

The main idea of the game is to combine genres: it’s tower defense, a shooter, and even a roguelike. As a result, each playthrough will be truly unique… The game also features co-op that supports up to four players, so now, as they say, everyone will have a blast.

By the way, you won’t be able to beat this game alone. Because at the end, a massive boss awaits, one that only a real team can handle. The game is addictive.

Gothic 1

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2001
Platforms: PC
Genres: RPG, Action, Adventure, Exploration, Third-Person, Atmospheric, Fantasy, Open World, Story-Rich, Gothic, Magic, Medieval, Orcs, Knights
More about the game: Read More

This game is one of those cult RPGs, with the action unfolding in the world of Myrtana. The story revolves around a kingdom that has been at war with orcs for years. Magical ore, which allows the creation of powerful weapons, is crucial in these wars. To mine the ore, all criminals are sent to a colony over which mages have created a magical barrier… But something went wrong, and everyone inside can no longer escape this cursed colony.

We play as the Nameless Hero. We need to escape the colony, and to do that, we must find a way to break the barrier. On top of this, the player will go through countless adventures, quests, and battles, and of course, choose their own path.

Sure, the graphics in this old game are, to put it mildly, not great, but that doesn’t make it a bad game. The story, dialogues, progression, atmosphere – everything is top-notch. Both hardcore gamers and newcomers love this game.

Gothic 2

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2002
Platforms: PC
Genres: RPG, Open World, Atmospheric, Fantasy, Story-Rich, Action, Third-Person, Adventure, Dragons, Magic, Orcs, Medieval, Knights
More about the game: Read More

Next on our list is Gothic 2. A direct sequel to the first game, picking up right where it left off. The story revolves around the Nameless Hero, who is pulled from the rubble by his old acquaintance, the necromancer Xardas. The barrier is destroyed, but peace hasn’t returned: now we have to fight not only orcs but also dragons, who are hungry for power.

Just like in the first game, the player will start from scratch, developing their character and learning new skills. On top of that, throughout the game, we’ll need to find allies and join one of the factions, for example, joining the Paladins is the easiest path.

Gothic 2: Night of the Raven

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2003
Platforms: PC
Genres: RPG, Open World, Atmospheric, Fantasy, Story-Rich, Action, Third-Person, Adventure, Dragons, Magic, Orcs, Medieval, Knights, Pirates
More about the game: Read More

This is an expansion to Gothic 2. The story revolves around us traveling to a new location to stop the evil in the form of one of the ore barons from the first game – Raven.

Also, in this installment, the developers further expanded the open world, so exploration fans will love it. We’ll get to visit a huge number of locations: forests, old mines, and also the city of Khorinis, which is literally swarming with quests and tasks. The player will constantly be improving their character and searching for new treasures.

The gameplay hasn’t changed: it’s still as hardcore and difficult as ever, but it still delivers a ton of fun, as every battle is a real challenge that, in the end, you can overcome. The game is seriously addictive.

Gothic 3

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2006
Platforms: PC
Genres: RPG, Open World, Fantasy, Action, Atmospheric, Third-Person, Adventure, Story-Rich, Sandbox, First-Person, Exploration, Medieval, Knights, Orcs, Magic
More about the game: Read More

The events in Gothic 3 pick up right after the second installment. We’ll be playing as the nameless hero who returns to the mainland, only to find that the familiar world has changed… Orcs have seized Myrtana, and the rebels are hiding somewhere in the forests and mountains.

This installment, as they say, became the most “global” in the series, and not just because of the huge open world from the very beginning. There were many more possibilities. Want to join the orcs? Go for it. On top of that, you can stay loyal to your old rebel friends. Or even choose a third path and become a mercenary. But despite these freedoms, the gameplay didn’t really change much. As before, we’ll be roaming the world, slaughtering monsters, filling our pockets with loot, and completing dozens of quests, both simple and more complex. In short, you won’t be bored. By the way, there are a lot of orcs here, and they’re seriously pissed off.

This is probably the most controversial entry in the series. Many didn’t like it because it wasn’t “Gothic” enough, not what everyone was used to… But that doesn’t make it a bad game. It’s just different, with some rough edges. But still, my friends, it deserves to be played.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2006
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360
Genres: RPG, First-Person, Action, Fantasy, Adventure, Stealth, Multiple Endings, Story-Rich, Atmospheric, Multiplayer, Magic, Knights, Medieval, Orcs, Sword Combat
More about the game: Read More

Here we have a standard fantasy-action game with RPG elements, memorable primarily for its gameplay. The action unfolds in the world of Might and Magic, where the main character, a wizard’s apprentice named Sareth, embarks on a journey for a mysterious artifact. At first, everything seems simple and clear, but then events take an unexpected turn. By the way, there are orcs here too, and a particularly large number of them on one gloomy island.

The gameplay, as I already mentioned, is the main strength of the game. Everything here is geared towards merciless slaughter. We use magic and swords to fight our way through hordes of enemies. But it’s not just mindless clicking – you can kick enemies, set them on fire, or throw them off cliffs. In short, complete freedom of action for those who like a creative approach to combat. Weapons and progression are there, of course, but they’re kind of secondary… The main thing is how you use the environment.

The game is seriously addictive. It’ll appeal to both hardcore gamers and newcomers. It doesn’t try to be something complicated, but it offers a unique experience. It’s a direct, adrenaline-fueled adventure. A captivating game.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

More about the game: Read More

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion… What more can be said? Pure masterpiece. This is, as they say, *the* RPG that blew everyone away in 2006. First off, the graphics are excellent, and they still hold up pretty well today. The world is also huge and open. Meaning, you can go wherever you want.

The gameplay here is a classic RPG. We play as the “chosen” hero who has to save the world. As usual. On top of that, there are side quests. A lot of them, actually. Orcs are here too, and they’re really cool – you can talk to them, do their quests; they’re not just “evil monsters” for cannon fodder.

This game is seriously addictive. All RPG fans will love it. For Cyrodiil!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2011
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Nintendo Switch
Genres: Open World, RPG, Adventure, Fantasy, Story-Rich, First-Person, Action, Atmospheric, Third-Person, Magic, Orcs, Dragons, Elves, Winter
More about the game: Read More

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – this is the absolute quintessence of RPGs. This game, you could say, was a phenomenon in its time. It has everything: a huge open world, dragons, swords, magic… And orcs too, all you need for a good role-playing game. We’ll be playing as the Dragonborn, who has the power to deal with the returning dragons.

The story here is excellent, with a ton of twists, but besides that, there’s also a massive world to explore. You can easily get lost in it for hundreds of hours, completing side quests. There are a lot of them, by the way. Some are simple, of course, but there are also those that will stretch for several hours. As in previous installments, orcs here are not just faceless enemies. They are a full-fledged race, with their own culture, strongholds, and even a code of honor. You can help them, or, conversely, attack them. In other words, complete freedom of choice.

What else can I say… The game still looks good, and people are still playing it. Both hardcore gamers and newcomers will love it.

Neverwinter Nights

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2002
Platforms: PC
Genres: RPG, Fantasy, Adventure, Atmospheric, Orcs, Magic, Medieval, Dungeons & Dragons
More about the game: Read More

The action kicks off in the kingdom of Neverwinter. A terrifying plague, dubbed the “Wailing Death,” has struck the city, spreading fear and dread everywhere. At first, we’ll need to find four ingredients to cure this ailment. Besides the main storyline, the game is absolutely packed with various quests, tasks, and other goodies. The original game’s gameplay is drastically different from what we’re all used to. For starters, it’s a true party-based RPG, where all your actions influence the story and how various factions will perceive you. We’ll be playing as a lone warrior, whom we get to choose at the very beginning of the game. The abundance of races and classes here is simply astounding.

Speaking of orcs, in Neverwinter Nights, orcs aren’t always enemies, though that happens too. In fact, orcs here are, as they say, a separate, full-fledged playable race. You can choose an orc or a half-orc, create your character, and enjoy the gameplay. For those who love to create their own unique warrior, this feature will definitely hit the spot.

This isn’t just some old “computer game” with dumb graphics and a weak story. It completely sucks you in, invades your mind, and doesn’t let go easily. The graphics here are excellent; for those years, it was a masterpiece. A true hit for fantasy and RPG lovers.

Baldur’s Gate 3

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2023
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Genres: RPG, Turn-Based, Fantasy, Adventure, Atmospheric, Orcs, Magic, Medieval, Dungeons & Dragons, Co-op, Story-Rich
More about the game: Read More

Here we have a standard, that is, a classic CRPG, where we’ll dive into a world of magic spells, full of danger, and of course, adventure. At the very beginning, we’ll get to create our own character. You can choose from a huge list of races and classes. By the way, there are orcs here too.

Besides creating your character, you can also assemble a party here. And, just like in other games, this won’t be just a random assortment; these are companions with their own personalities, desires, and secrets, just like in Dragon Age or Mass Effect. You can befriend them, argue with them, you can… get intimate with them, yeah, there are sex scenes here. This, by the way, is an excellent feature, especially for those who are tired of repetitive games.

Orcs in this game are absolutely brutal. When they attack, it’s an insane bloodbath. They are strong, aggressive, and ferocious. Just like in real life. But overall, the game is excellent, suitable for both hardcore gamers and newcomers. And for D&D fans, it’s an absolute treasure.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2014
Platforms: PC, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series
Genres: RPG, Tactical, Turn-Based, Cyberpunk, Fantasy, Orcs, Elves, Magic
More about the game: Read More

The action takes place in a world where magic coexists with technology, where dragons and elves, orcs and trolls, live side-by-side with cyborgs and hackers. Here we will lead a team of “runners” – mercenaries – and unravel a web of intrigue surrounding an ancient dragon. Besides the main story campaign, the game offers a ton of side quests, each with its own story.

The gameplay features turn-based tactical battles where every little detail, every position, and every shot matters. The player can level up both their own character and their companions. By the way, one of your companions can be an Orc. Orcs here are not just some wild and mindless warriors. They are a full-fledged race, integrated into society, but unfortunately, not everyone accepts them. Nevertheless, the game features orc shamans, orc cyborgs, and even orc hackers. It looks very original and interesting.

This is one of the best cyberpunk games out there. It’s incredibly addictive, and even despite its age, it still looks and plays great. Definitely give it a try – you won’t regret it.

Fans of the genre will love it.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2022
Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Genres: Action, Platformer, Shooter, 2D, Orcs, Warhammer 40000, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Co-op
More about the game: Read More

Here we have, so to speak, an original take on “Wah” in the form of a platformer. The gameplay is pure, unadulterated, side-scrolling action. We’ll be rushing across the screen and tearing apart everything that moves. At first, it all seems simple, but then the enemies get more numerous, and their attacks – more ferocious. It’s absolutely insane. You just furiously charge forward, shooting and swinging a massive cleaver, surrounded by an endless, merciless bloodbath.

We play as an orc who is chasing his stolen hair – which, as they say, is the most important thing in any orc’s life. The player will have to go through an entire planet swarming with Imperial Guardsmen, Space Marines, and other Imperial scum. The campaign can be played solo or in co-op for four. Playing with friends is more fun, as you can create a real, frantic mess on screen.

WAAAGH!!!

Two Worlds II

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Platforms: PC, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch
Genres: RPG, Open World, Fantasy, Adventure, Orcs, Dwarves, Elves, Undead, Magic, Medieval, Action, Atmospheric
More about the game: Read More

The game is a classic open-world RPG, where we play as the main character trying to save our sister, and at first, it seems like a normal story, but it unfolds into something much bigger. We’ll have to deal with orcs who are, surprisingly, on our side. In the first game, they were our enemies, but in this one… well, you’ll see what’s what. The story isn’t exactly a masterpiece, but it’s there, and that’s enough to get sucked into the game for dozens of hours.

The gameplay here is standard for RPGs. We run around, complete quests, fight monsters, level up our character. By the way, the combat here is quite unusual. It’s based on “click-spamming” enemies, but on the other hand, that doesn’t always work, because there’s also magic, which is done very originally here. Both hardcore gamers and newcomers will find plenty to do. You can do quests, or just explore the world.

For the King!

The final installment (for now) of this epic game series, putting an end to the Old World’s story. The game’s plot revolves around chaos breaking into the mortal world. We play as factions trying to contain it, but besides them, there are other forces… namely, orcs, who, as always, can’t sit still and unleash a WAAAGH! across the entire continent. The game looks absolutely gorgeous, and the graphics are top-notch.

The gameplay, like in previous installments, is divided into a global map and battle mode. On the global map, you’ll manage your kingdom, build outposts, forge alliances, and, of course, wage war. But in battle mode… well, it’s just pure, merciless slaughter. Every faction is unique, and even a newcomer can grasp that.

Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time Strategy, War, Sci-Fi, Multiplayer, Action, Atmospheric, Adventure, Fantasy, Co-op, Warhammer 40000, Base Building, Orcs, Elves

This is an expansion to the first game, with the action unfolding on the planet Kronus. The game is a standard real-time strategy (RTS) where we have to choose one of seven factions and conquer the entire planet. Among the factions, of course, are orcs, whose strategy is very simple – unleash a WAAAGH!.

Orcs here are, as always, very aggressive and numerous. The gameplay for them is super straightforward – gather as many troops as possible and rush the enemy. What can I say, they’re orcs. Their morale grows when they gather in hordes, and their scrap-metal weapons hit so hard it’s not even funny!

The game has multiplayer, where you can play with friends or other players. For orc lovers, this is an excellent opportunity to have a good fight on the planet Kronus.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm

Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time Strategy, War, Sci-Fi, Multiplayer, Action, Atmospheric, Adventure, Fantasy, Co-op, Warhammer 40000, Base Building, Orcs, Elves
More about the game: Read More

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm expands the battlefield to multiple planets and moons, making the war even more epic.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm is exactly one of those cases where an expansion feels like a full-fledged game. Not only did they expand the battlefield to an entire solar system, but they also added two completely new races, with their own unique units and tactics. For hardcore fans of the series, this is a celebration, and for newcomers, a real challenge, so to speak.

As for the gameplay, it’s just like the original. First, we build a base, gather resources, and then assemble an army and attack the enemy. Nothing new, but it works. By the way, Soulstorm introduced air units, and that really changes the game, especially if there are a lot of attackers. Which, essentially, is exactly what we need.

This game is perfect for getting lost in all weekend. Playing as orcs is a wild bloodbath, so “WAAAGH!” enthusiasts will definitely love it. If you’ve been looking for something similar, grab it without hesitation, even at full price.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2: Retribution

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2011
Platforms: PC
Genres: Real-Time Strategy, Tactical, War, Sci-Fi, Multiplayer, Action, Atmospheric, Adventure, Co-op, Warhammer 40000, Orcs
More about the game: Read More

The next installment of the cult classic Dawn of War 2, which is actually not a sequel, but rather a standalone expansion. But it expanded the original content so well that it can be considered a full-fledged game. Six races were immediately available: Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Tyranids, Chaos, and Imperial Guard. And most importantly, for the first time, you could choose any of them to play through the story campaign. This was simply a gameplay revelation for its time. And how much it increased replayability – no need to even talk about it, you get it.

Roughly speaking, it’s the same Dawn of War 2, but perfected. As for the gameplay, it’s still focused on tactical skirmishes. No base building or resource gathering here, just hardcore action. We play as the commander of a small squad, and our task is to fight through hordes of enemies, completing missions.

As for the orcs – this is probably the most fun and frantic campaign of them all. All the gameplay boils down to one thing: more, more, more WAAAGH! Orcs rely on insane momentum and brute force, and their units are incredibly tough and can deal tons of damage. If you love to overwhelm with numbers and don’t bother with complex tactics, then this is your faction. And their dialogues, full of signature humor, are a whole other topic.

Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time Strategy, War, Tactical, Sci-Fi, Multiplayer, Action, Base Building, Atmospheric, Co-op, Story-Rich, MOBA, Warhammer 40000, Orcs, Elves

Yes, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 is a sequel to the cult RTS, which returned to the series’ roots, meaning base building and resource gathering. So to speak, the developers combined the mechanics of the first and second parts, spicing it all up with a trendy “MOBA” system. We play as one of three races – Space Marines, Eldar, or Orcs. Each faction has its own unique style, units, and super-units.

Put simply, it’s a standard real-time strategy with an emphasis on micromanagement. You’ll build up your base, research tech, assemble an army, and push the enemy. By the way, the game also has a single-player campaign that tells an epic war story between these three races over some artifact. Unfortunately, the plot here is generic and, frankly, good for one playthrough, but on top of that, there’s a decent multiplayer component.

As for orcs, they’re my favorite race. Their gameplay component is just frantic action. The greenskin orcs rely on numbers and brute force, and their vehicles are a heap of metal and weapons that look like they were put together from a dumpster. And their heroes – that’s a whole other story. It’s funny to watch them hand out beatdowns to enemies. Orcs can withstand any attack, and their WAAAGH! can wipe an entire army off the map.

Warhammer 40000: Regicide

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2017
Platforms: PC, iOS, Android
Genres: Strategy, Turn-Based, Tactical, Multiplayer, Warhammer 40000, Orcs, Chess, Two-Player
More about the game: Read More

Warhammer 40000: Regicide – this is when someone thought: what if chess isn’t just a game, but a battlefield where Space Marines and orcs clash? And here’s what came out. In short, it’s chess with combat and special abilities. The game has two modes. Classic, where everything is as usual: two armies, only instead of bishops – heroes. Nothing special here, a regular game, except the pieces look cooler. But in Regicide mode, that’s where the real fun begins. Each piece, be it a pompous Space Marine or a brutal orc, transforms into a unit with its own abilities. There are gunshots, grenades, and even stormbolter blasts. Essentially, each move isn’t just a relocation, but a tactical decision on how to most effectively crush the enemy. You have to control every step you take.

To be honest, this game isn’t for those looking for a serious strategy. It’s designed just to have fun when your orc pawn causes a bloody mess in a couple of moves and takes out the enemy “king” with an orbital strike. It’s fun, but gets boring fast.

By the way, it also has a single-player campaign, but it’s not very interesting. Just a set of tutorial missions.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2016
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Space, Real-Time Strategy, War, Tactical, Sci-Fi, Multiplayer, Fantasy, Action, Co-op, Orcs, Spaceships, Warhammer 40000
More about the game: Read More

Well, to be honest, stuffing Battlefleet Gothic: Armada into an orc roundup is, let’s just say, not the most obvious choice. But for the most part, not only are orcs present here, they’re frantic, formidable, and hilariously fun space pirates.

The game is a tactical space combat simulator, with its action, naturally, unfolding in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. We’ll be taking control of massive fleets made up of gigantic ships and laying waste to our enemies. And by “laying waste” – I mean it literally, because the game is primarily about tactics, not frantic clicking.

The gameplay revolves around slow, deliberate destruction. Ships are massive, unwieldy, and every command you issue carries weight. The player will manage shields, firing range, maneuvering, and, of course, ramming. Because what are orcs without ramming? And here, it’s done so well that it looks incredibly epic. You just crank the engines and smash into the enemy cruiser, screaming “WAAAGH!” in your head. On top of all that, each race has its own unique features and special abilities, making battles very diverse. Orcs, as you might have guessed, focus on sheer numbers, ramming, and “brute force.”

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2019
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time Strategy, Tactical, Space, War, Sci-Fi, Multiplayer, Co-op, Atmospheric, Orcs, Spaceships, Warhammer 40000
More about the game: Read More

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 is, essentially, the continuation of that tactical simulator, but this time even more epic and massive. The gameplay hasn’t changed; or, more simply, it’s been perfected. We still have to command entire armadas of ships, but now the battles are even more enormous, and the variety of races is simply astonishing. By the way, the orcs have been delivered in top form; they’ve, so to speak, become even cooler. Roughly speaking, it’s the same game, but bigger, better, and more beautiful.

Among other things, the player will have many more options for customizing their fleet. It’s also worth noting that the orc campaign here has become much more interesting than in the first part. Our task is to assemble the biggest and meanest WAAAGH! and smash everyone who stands in our way. By the way, I think it’s in this installment that the developers perfectly captured the spirit of that madness.

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon – Da Orks

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2016
Platforms: PC, iOS, Android
Genres: Strategy, War, Turn-Based, Tactical, Multiplayer, Warhammer 40000, Orcs, Tanks
More about the game: Read More

Oh, those orcs… If you truly want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of that classic “WAAAGH!” then Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon – Da Orks is for you. Essentially, this is an expansion that allows us to play as the Horde, meaning these green guys. The gameplay revolves around turn-based tactics, where the player will command entire armies consisting of tanks, battlewagons, and insane boyz. This is, in short, a classic wargame strategy, with the action unfolding on the planet Armageddon.

As for the gameplay, everything here is, as they say, “by the book.” Our task is to smash everyone in our path, and the main objective is the destruction of Imperial forces. By the way, in this expansion, the player will participate in three dozen scenarios covering the Second War for Armageddon. Plus, you’ll have a huge number of units at your disposal, which can be upgraded as you play. In short, if you’re a fan of turn-based strategies and orcs, this game is for you).

Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2018
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Turn-Based, 4X, Multiplayer, Tactical, War, Co-op, Warhammer 40000, Orcs
More about the game: Read More

By the way, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is one of those rare cases where the “Warhammer” universe got a quality 4X strategy, and importantly, orcs play a significant role here. Essentially, all the gameplay revolves around the total annihilation of enemies. We don’t need to bother with diplomacy, trade, or any other useless garbage. Just war, pure hardcore.

This is a classic turn-based strategy in the vein of Civilization, but with an emphasis on the military aspect. We’ll need to colonize the planet, build bases, and, of course, create massive armies. Of course, the gameplay isn’t overly complicated, which will appeal to both seasoned gamers and newcomers to the genre. And if you’re tired of destroying everything alone, you can enlist the support of a buddy, because the game features co-op.

As for orcs, playing as them is a blast. At first, they’re weak, but the more battles and the more “carnage,” the stronger they become. Essentially, as they say, the “greens” turn into an absolutely invincible horde, sweeping away everything in their path. And their signature battle cries will definitely make you crack a smile. It’s a meat grinder where you never know how it will end, but you know for sure it’ll be fun.

King’s Bounty: Crossworlds

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2010
Platforms: PC
Genres: RPG, Strategy, Turn-Based, Fantasy, Adventure, Atmospheric, Orcs, Knights, Medieval, Dragons, Magic
More about the game: Read More

Let’s start, perhaps, with the fact that King’s Bounty: Crossworlds isn’t exactly a new game, but an expansion to “King’s Bounty: Armored Princess.” Here we have the same beloved top-down gameplay, where we explore the world, complete quests, and battles take place on hexagonal fields (simply put – 6-sided), which has become the hallmark of the entire series. Plus, we’ll have a huge number of all sorts of units, spells, and of course, orcs at our disposal.

As for the orcs… Here they are presented as a standalone race, meaning they have their own history, their own heroes, who are, in principle, interesting. Plus, in the expansion, we get to play as a knight who must find an ancient artifact to stop the invasion of the orc horde. In short, the gameplay and story haven’t changed, but that’s not bad at all.

It’s terribly addictive, of course. The game just devours time.

“While we play, time has no power over us.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2004
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, War Strategy, Real-Time, Fantasy, Atmospheric, Multiplayer, Orcs, Base Building, Elves, Dwarves, Goblins, Magic, Lord of the Rings
More about the game: Read More

I’ll just say it: this game is an absolute classic, and one of the best strategies in the Lord of the Rings universe. The action unfolds during the events of the movie trilogy, and we get to control two opposing sides – Light or Darkness. The gameplay, to be honest, is super dynamic, downright frantic. You’re constantly moving, constantly building something, constantly attacking. And fortress sieges – that’s a whole other art form.

As for the orcs, here you have the strong and numerous Orcs of Mordor and Isengard. The player will have not only infantry but also orc cavalry, as well as trolls and huge siege engines. Also, to be honest, playing as the side of Darkness is much more interesting than the side of Light. Basically, they have more units and they are, let’s say, more aggressive.

It’s just a masterpiece. And the soundtrack… it’s just magnificent.

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2006
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360
Genres: Strategy, War Strategy, Real-Time, Fantasy, Atmospheric, Multiplayer, Orcs, Base Building, Elves, Dwarves, Goblins, Magic, Lord of the Rings
More about the game: Read More

Let’s start by saying that this is the second part of a great strategy game, where we once again get to control various races, including orcs. As for the orcs, now they have their own story campaign, which, by the way, looks incredibly cool. We’ll be rebuilding Mordor and its bastions, stirring up riots, and generally… striking fear into the inhabitants of Middle-earth. Also, the player now has a greater selection of troops and units, and the battles themselves have become even more epic.

Plus, there’s now the option to build bases almost anywhere, which added, so to speak, original variety. In fact, The Battle for Middle-earth II isn’t just a sequel, but a truly refined and improved version of the first game, where the developers fixed a ton of bugs. Overall, an excellent game that still plays great today.

Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2003
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time, RPG, Story-Rich, Fantasy, Atmospheric, Adventure, Multiplayer, Base Building, Orcs, Elves, Knights, Medieval, Warcraft
More about the game: Read More

The Frozen Throne expansion is rightly considered one of the best add-ons in video game history. Essentially, it’s not just a set of new missions and units. It’s a full-fledged, perfected second part of the original story, which continues and develops the plot of Warcraft 3. The main character here, of course, is Arthas – and we’ll have to go through his entire terrifying journey as the Lich King.

But besides that, we are, of course, also getting an Orc Horde campaign, which continues the story of Thrall, so to speak, his attempts to establish a new state. And this is, by and large, where we see the coolest part of the game. New units, new heroes, even some new buildings. And of course, Thrall himself in his prime.

Naturally, without the Horde, there would be no story at all. The orc campaign, in my opinion, is the most interesting in the game.

Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2002
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time, RPG, Story-Rich, Fantasy, Atmospheric, Adventure, Multiplayer, Base Building, Orcs, Elves, Knights, Medieval, Warcraft
More about the game: Read More

Here we have a game that, in its time, blew up not only the strategy genre but the entire industry. As for the story, here we play as the main heroes for each of the four races: Humans, Orcs, Undead, and Night Elves. The plot develops smoothly, everything is interconnected, and most importantly – it’s delivered not only through mission briefings but also through cinematics that still look absolutely gorgeous. Especially for that year.

The gameplay is classic real-time strategy, meaning you’ll gather resources, build a base, recruit troops… You get the idea. But the trick was something else – the heroes. For the first time in the RTS genre, the hero became not just a strong combat unit, but a key element of the gameplay. They have experience, an inventory, and most importantly – skills that make them stronger as they level up. This, essentially, laid the foundation for many modern games. By the way, it was because of Warcraft 3 that many people, even those far from the genre, fell in love with orcs. Because in this game, they’re far from just green monsters; they’re a proud people seeking their home and fighting for survival.

Warcraft 3: Reforged

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2020
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Real-Time, RPG, Story-Rich, Fantasy, Atmospheric, Adventure, Multiplayer, Base Building, Orcs, Elves, Knights, Medieval, Warcraft
More about the game: Read More

The game tells us about the events of the legendary strategy Warcraft 3 and its expansion The Frozen Throne. We were promised a completely revamped classic – with new in-engine cutscenes, rewritten dialogues, and a modern interface. What’s disappointing is that what we got was far from it. Instead of a cool remake, players got a basic remaster with updated character models.

The gameplay remained the same, it’s still the good old Warcraft with its brilliant story and polished balance. There are almost no innovations here, but there are plenty of problems. The developers managed to break what was already working perfectly – from the game, clans, custom campaigns, and a proper ranking system disappeared, and the new client was forcibly installed even for those who had already bought the original game. Overall, Reforged is a great opportunity for newcomers to experience the classic, but a huge slap in the face for old fans.

Age of Wonders 3

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2014
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Turn-Based, Fantasy, RPG, 4X, Multiplayer, Tactical, Co-op, Adventure, Grand Strategy, Atmospheric, Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Magic
More about the game: Read More

Remember the Heroes of Might and Magic series? Well, this is, for the most part, a very similar game, but with one important distinction – it’s not a clone. Not at all. Age of Wonders 3 takes all the best from the genre and does it with its own charm. Of course, we’ll conquer cities, develop armies, and level up our hero. But here’s where it gets interesting: the game features a deep RPG system where you can develop not only your hero but an entire race. Choose your class – from Warlord to Necromancer, and go!

On top of that, it has a really cool feature. As they say, the player’s arsenal will include different races, and these races really affect the playstyle. And what about orcs? They’re one of the core races, powerful and brutal. Their units, frankly, are geared towards brutal melee combat and aggressive tactics, which makes perfect sense.

Essentially, this is one of the best fantasy strategies released in recent years. The story isn’t a masterpiece, of course, but playing it… is pure pleasure.

SpellForce 3

SpellForce 3

Release Date: 2017
Platforms: PC, Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4
Genres: RPG, Strategy, Real-Time, Fantasy, Multiplayer, Open World, Co-op, Atmospheric, Adventure, Story-Rich, Base Building, Action, Dwarves, Orcs, Elves, Knights, Magic, Medieval
More about the game: Read More

SpellForce 3 is a very successful hybrid of genres that feels great on both PC and consoles. Simply put, it’s a mix of an RPG with hero progression and a real-time tactical strategy. This isn’t just an “orc game”; it’s a big, complex story where we take on the role of one of the generals in the world of Eo. The story here is actually good and well-developed, which you don’t often see in strategy games.

The gameplay isn’t just about base building and resource gathering, but also constant hero development. You can explore the world, complete quests, and even craft. Essentially, it’s two full gameplays in one package.

As for the orcs, they’re, as expected, fierce and strong here. The player will have several factions at their disposal, each with its own units and tactics. And, naturally, the orc arsenal includes both standard melee fighters and various sorcerers. Their gameplay is largely based on an aggressive style.

“For the Horde!” – I think that’s what they said in Warcraft? Well, this is a different story, but it works too).

Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2007
Platforms: PC
Genres: Strategy, Turn-Based, Fantasy, Multiplayer, Orcs, Knights, Dwarves, Elves, Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic
More about the game: Read More

To be honest, we couldn’t skip this expansion. Tribes of the East isn’t just an add-on; it’s a full-fledged third part of the game where we basically unlock a new storyline. Most importantly, we get to play as orcs, who in this installment have become a full-fledged, playable race. As for the gameplay itself, it hasn’t changed, of course. It’s still the familiar Heroes of Might and Magic V, but with a ton of new content and, most importantly, the ability to play as one of the most brutal races.

As for mechanics, the Horde, in the form of orcs, got a new trick: Rage. Basically, the more your warriors swing their axes, the more their rage meter fills, giving them an insane attack bonus. This forces you to play aggressively and constantly seek out combat. In fact, orcs here are like a killing machine that ramps up in battle and sweeps away everything in its path.

An excellent game, both for fans and for those who want to get acquainted with the genre.

The Scouring

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2025
Platforms: PC
Genres: Real-Time Strategy, Action, Co-op, Atmospheric, Multiplayer, Action, Tactical, Magic, Orcs, RPG
More about the game: Read More

The Scouring – this is something new; here we have a mix of Action-RPG and RTS. You’re not just a hero who runs around chopping everyone up, but also a commander who manages an entire army. Our task is not only to level up our character and gather cool loot, but also to properly manage our troops.

By the way, about orcs. Here they can be both enemies and part of our army. Orcs in The Scouring are such a brutal force that can easily smash through any defense. In fact, their units are very resistant to damage and deal huge damage, which makes them indispensable in melee combat.

By the way, the game has a cool destruction system, and when orcs charge a castle wall, it’s absolutely insane! In short, for fans of truly brutal action with tactical elements, this is a real find.

Overall, fans of both genres should definitely give it a try.

Online Orc Games (MMO, MMORPG)

Release Date: 2013
Platforms: PC
Genres: MOBA, MMORPG, Action, RPG, Fantasy, Third-Person, Co-op, Adventure, Dwarves, Orcs, Magic
More about the game: Read More

Panzar is, simply put, a classic session-based MOBA, but with MMORPG elements. The gameplay revolves around team battles, where two teams of 8 players duke it out in arenas. The player has several races and classes at their disposal, and the main task, by and large, will be capturing points, holding fortresses, and other genre-standard stuff.

Let’s start, perhaps, with the fact that orcs here aren’t just monsters; they’re a fully playable race. You can play as a classic Berserker, who soaks up damage and dishes out beatdowns, or a more “tanky” Tank, with a shield and sword. In short, you can choose to your taste.

By the way, the game might seem quite complex at first, but that’s only at first glance. It’s seriously addictive once you get the hang of the mechanics, and it’s especially awesome to play with friends.

Well, what can be said. World of Warcraft is long past being just a game; it’s an entire era. Orcs here are among the key characters. At the very beginning of the game, if you choose an orc, you’ll take on the role of one of the Horde’s warriors. In fact, the main task boils down to defending your faction, which, as they say, isn’t that simple. After all, you’ll face other players from the hostile Alliance.

As for the “Wrath of the Lich King” expansion specifically, here we again get new characters, new bosses, and, of course, new storylines. To be honest, this add-on is one of my favorites, and it has an absolutely gorgeous atmosphere that keeps you hooked until the very end.

For the Horde!

Lineage 2

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2003
Platforms: PC
Genres: MMORPG, Open World, Fantasy, Adventure, PvP, PvE, Online, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, Knights, Magic, Medieval
More about the game: Read More

Many modern gamers probably find it hard to imagine that MMORPGs once weren’t about flashy special effects and a ton of pop-up quest windows. It was an entire world where, at first, everything was literally difficult. And you were hunted not only by monsters but by real players. We play as one of five races – elves, dark elves, humans, dwarves, and, of course, our beloved orcs. Our task is to survive in this massive world. At first, you’ll just grind on mobs, and then you’ll start diving into clan skirmishes, castle sieges, and raids on epic bosses. For those who love hardcore and the grind, this is pure heaven.

And what’s more, in Lineage 2, orcs aren’t just green stooges, which they usually are as enemies, but a full-fledged race with their own history and culture. They are strong, fierce, and, frankly, incredibly cool. Playing as an orc in this game is a blast, because essentially you’re an invincible warrior with a huge club, unafraid of mages or archers. Well, almost unafraid. This game is already 20 years old, and it’s still alive. It’s, so to speak, one of those games that hook you for months, if not years.

The Lord of the Rings Online

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2007
Platforms: PC
Genres: MMORPG, Open World, Fantasy, Adventure, Online, PvP, PvE, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, Knights, Magic, Medieval, Lord of the Rings
More about the game: Read More

The Lord of the Rings Online – this is, of course, a true classic. A game that transported us to Middle-earth, and not just some part of it, but a full-fledged living world where every stone and every blade of grass breathes with the atmosphere of “Lord of the Rings.” I remember at first everyone was saying that no one could convey the grandeur of the books, but Turbine (and later Standing Stone Games) managed it. This is, in short, a typical MMORPG where we’ll create a hero and embark on a grand adventure, all while experiencing key moments from the saga.

Of course, orcs in this universe are a calling card. Naturally, they’re here. And they’re, frankly, everywhere. Their role in the game is huge; they’re not just ordinary mobs for grinding, but one of the central elements of the conflict. The player constantly encounters them: whether in routine clear-out quests, epic fortress battles, or even in PvMP mode. By the way, in this mode, you can even play as an orc yourself and go into battle against live player-heroes. One way or another, we’ll constantly be fighting hordes of these greenskins. And believe me, it doesn’t get old.

By the way, the game isn’t just about killing orcs. It has incredibly rich lore, a huge number of quests, a crafting system, and, of course, a social component – clans, raids, dungeon crawls. It’s seriously addictive.

Neverwinter

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2013
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4
Genres: MMORPG, Open World, Fantasy, Adventure, Online, PvP, PvE, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, Magic, Medieval, Dungeons & Dragons
More about the game: Read More

Sooner or later, any Dungeons & Dragons fan will get around to this game. Sure, it’s not a perfect MMORPG, but for those looking for adventure in a familiar setting, it’s absolutely spot-on. Here we have your standard “kill-and-fetch,” spiced up with a cool story and interesting quests. The gameplay is built around dynamic action – this ain’t no boring WoW with its auto-attacks; here you really need to pop skills, dodge, and sometimes even block.

All in all, orcs here act as one of the main threats. They constantly raid peaceful settlements, pillage, kill, and sow chaos. There are a lot of them, they’re super pissed off, and in some quests, they’re just begging for a good beating. And the best part – you can’t underestimate them; they’re not just dumb sacks of meat, but quite intelligent opponents who can really mess you up.

As a matter of fact, in the game, you can find not only regular orcs but also their more serious variants. For example, berserkers who attack without hesitation, or shamans capable of buffing their kin. Our task is to fully deal with all of them. And believe me, fighting an orc chieftain is no joke.

Allods Online

Best Orc Games for PC, PS & Xbox - The List

Release Date: 2010
Platforms: PC
Genres: MMORPG, Open World, Fantasy, Adventure, Online, PvP, PvE, Orcs, Magic, Medieval, Elves
More about the game: Read More

Here we have a standard MMORPG that came out back in 2010 but is still alive and thriving. The player will dive into the world of Sarnaut, which, by the way, after a global catastrophe, has turned into a bunch of islands floating in the Astral. And it’s on these islands that the orcs live. In fact, they are one of the key races of the Empire faction – tough, battle-hardened warriors who strike fear into anyone who dares to stand in their way. Naturally, you can choose an orc as your character and enjoy their brutal aesthetic – huge, tusked, with a ton of battle scars. In short, everything we love.

On top of that, the gameplay for orcs revolves around pure strength and endurance. These guys are natural-born warriors, and in melee combat, they probably have no equal. You can play as an orc warrior, who soaks up all the damage, or an orc priest, who, despite their warlike nature, can heal allies. The game has both PvP and PvE. As for the former, you’ll find massive faction brawls, naval battles on your own ships, and frankly, it’s a sight not for the faint of heart. And besides that, there are also regular dungeons, raids, and quests that reveal the history of this world. One way or another, Allods Online is a game that will appeal to both hardcore gamers and newcomers.

Good luck on your journey, hero!
